A small ministry doing big things!

History

FrontLine Ministries (founded in 1994) identifies areas of need that are not addressed by existing organizations.

George Palmer is the founder and President of FLM, which has an independent outside board of directors.

FLM takes an entrepreneurial approach to starting new ministries and programs to meet these needs. Our goal is to start new ministries, recruit and train leadership; secure funding and then release the ministries. Our desire is not to build a mega-ministry.

  • Our earlier outreaches were geared to at-risk (street) teenagers.
  • We created and taught seminars and training for schools, community organizations, and local church leaders to deepen the awareness and urgent needs of these young people.
  • We created The Joshua Project providing internships for Youth Ministry students in local churches and businesses in central PA.
  • We opened “The Door” an outreach center for teens in local churches in Bellwood PA.
  • We provided summer camp for these teens.
  • We raised scholarship money to enable these teens to attend camp. (over 250K in recent years)
  • We worked with teens (and their families) dealing with the struggles of alcohol and drug use, abuse and other behavioral issues.
  • We worked with single teen moms (and their families) and young adults in prison.

In 2006
The Door was released and now functions as an independent ministry. This includes the above mentioned related ministry activities.

Other current services and activities:

  • Since 1999 FrontLine has organized and directed FrontLine’s “The Last Blast of Summer” at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park in Tipton PA. www.frontlineministries.com and www.delgrossos.com
  • George Palmer maintains his personal visitation ministry with local teens, and families. That averages over 100 prison visits and over 200 “in home” and hospital visits per year.

In 2007, FrontLine began two additional startup ministries.

  • The Hope Center which is a community outreach ministry located at 421 Main Street in Bellwood PA. Our mission statement is: The Hope Center is an outreach ministry providing friendship, hope, care, encouragement and resources to members of the Bellwood-Antis community.
  • To date we have organized an outside Advisory Board and have trained over 20 volunteer staff from the local community.

Our activities at THC include:

  • GED classes.
  • After-School-Club for mentoring and tutoring elementary age students began in April.
  • Bellwood Food Care and Share occurs once each quarter. In 2007 over 200 families received food provided by the Bellwood Council of Churches.
  • We also collect, refurbish and donate household items such as refrigerators, freezers, appliances, and furniture.
  • Men’s service group.
  • Soup’s On! (free soup and fellowship to members of the community.)
  • Fellowship groups for area residents.
  • A coffee house for high school graduates.
  • Prison ministry

Our other new area of ministry is for survivors (and the families and friends) of Traumatic Brain Injury.

Based on the following need, we provide outreach events for networking, rest, refreshment and renewal.

  • Every 23 seconds someone in the USA suffers from a brain injury.
  • On a yearly basis there are more brain injury occurrences in the USA than breast cancer, HIV, and spinal cord injury combined.
  • The cost of treatment is 70 billion dollars a year. Many of these families suffer enormous financial deficits.
  • Trauma and impact upon the family members (moms and dads, siblings, extended family) is enormous.
  • As many as 80% of couples with a TBI injury in their family end up in divorce.
  • Experts estimate that as many as 90% of families dealing with TBI and other developmental disabilities have no formal affiliation with a church.

We would love to share our experiences and strategies with you!

We’d love to have you participate in our events and ministries.
George Palmer is available for speaking and consulting.
